XXXL Ceramic Wall Sculpture by Paul Vermeire.1950's

New in our collection: realy stunning wall sculpture made by Belgian artist Paul Vermeire from Oostende.( 1928-1974)
It measures almost 3 meters long and is 1 meter high! Typical Flemish-Coast style...
Vermeire was a student of Joost Marechal and also worked for him.Before starting his own studio "Ter Ignis" in 1955 Vermeire assisted Réné Margritte with the painted wall decorations in the Casino in Knokke.
This is a one-off work, commisioned by a bank in Oostende.Made between 1955 and 1960.
Signed in script at the bottom right.

Humblet was a belgian artist well known for his graphic work and paintings.Was also the director of the "Acadamie voor schone kunsten Leuven" from 1959-1979
Rare in this size : 97 by 65 cm , mostly his woodcut prints are small.
This print is numbered 12/15 , dated 62' and signed in pencil lower right.
Based on the painting "De landschapsschilder" (oil on cancvas) also from 1962
