Amphora Lamp Base St. Andries 1960's

Giant ceramic lampfoot edited by Amphora somewhere in the 1960's.
Typical Rogier vandeweghe 'funnel' form and kind of octopus eyes.
Almost all Amphora glazes were composed at the plant itself, and therefore recognizable... Vandeweghe employed a chemist to create unique glazes.
In this camouflage like glaze we can see browns and khakis, as well as lilac and sky blues.....

We are extremely happy to have found this stunning sculpture by Elie Van Damme, made @ the Amphora studio in St Andries around 1960.
Typical Van Damme style : looking upwards....
Very rare experimental metallic glaze, from the reduction firing series. This sculpture never went into "production" so it's a one-off piece...
Perfect condition, height ca 47 cm.
