Elie Van Damme Sculpture Late 50's #4
Large handformed sculpture by Elie Van Damme.
'Hollow' eyes are a typical Elie Van Damme feature and applied during a long period of his career, only used for his own sculptures. They first appeared in the late 50's, the period this sculpture was created.
The Amphora sculptures had to be far more accessible as they were ment for a broader public and don't have these hollow eyes.....
Experimental black glaze. Height ca 34 cm.
Signed in full 'Elie Van Damme' at the back.
Made at the Amphora studios ca 1957-58.
